Renuvion® in lipedema: skin retraction
After removing large volumes of lipedema tissue, the skin needs to adapt. Renuvion® combines helium plasma and radiofrequency to support skin retraction without large scars. It is a complement to surgery, not a lipedema treatment in itself, and when properly indicated it makes a difference to the final result.
What Renuvion® (J-Plasma) is
Renuvion® (also known as J-Plasma) is a technology that ionises helium gas with radiofrequency to generate a controlled cold plasma. Applied beneath the skin in a minimally invasive way, it delivers energy that contracts the connective tissue and supports skin retraction.
Its authorised indication is the coagulation of subcutaneous soft tissue after liposuction to improve contour. In lipedema we use it as a complement to surgery, within the Advanced Care Method.
Why lipedema skin needs retraction
This is the part almost no content explains: the skin of a lipedema patient is not that of a cosmetic liposuction. When large volumes of fibrous tissue are removed, residual laxity is common, especially in the legs and arms.
Renuvion® helps that skin adapt better to the new contour without the need for large incisions to remove skin. It does not replace surgery or treat lipedema: it improves the quality of the result when there is laxity or a risk of it.

Results, timing and honest limits
Skin retraction is gradual: changes are assessed over several months (the result usually settles between 6 and 9 months). As with any procedure, it has risks and contraindications (for example, pregnancy or coagulation disorders), which are assessed before surgery.
Renuvion® does not cure lipedema and does not replace surgery or conservative management: it is a complementary resource whose use is decided on an individual basis.
